Hot on the heels of her #1 single Thrill, Biddy Ronelle has teamed up with longtime collaborator and friend David Luke to write and release Let The Music Play to raise awareness and funds for Help Musicians. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit a number of industries hard, but none so much as live performance. The closure of theatres, music venues, pubs and clubs has taken income and more from performers, stage crew, technical crew, venue staff and promoters, and the performance industry has all but disappeared overnight. With this love letter to the arts, Biddy and David hope to fill our hearts with hope, remind us of our joy and inspire us to do all we can – even if it’s just streaming the song – to help our friends whose lives and livelihoods have been irrevocably changed.
About the song, Biddy and David say
we are incredibly thankful to Help Musicians for their support and grants during the pandemic and we wanted to give something back to the performers in the industry who are still waiting to go back to work. All sales of this single will go direct to the charity. We are also blessed to have over one hundred performers, technicians, directors and those working in the industry be involved in the music video for this release which will be released in September.
Although described as a love letter, Let The Music Play is more of an anthem. It’s a grand finale (but not a goodbye), a lighters-in-the-air showstopper you’ll be thinking about all the way home. It’ll give you chills. Biddy’s vocal prowess is stronger than ever, and David Luke is a name that ought to be on everyone’s lips after this.
