The menu for 2021 features a brand new D.R.I.N.K – the new single from Biddy Ronelle, that is. After 2020 brought a #1 EP, #1 single and a plethora of top 10 solo efforts and collaborations, Biddy’s latest bop will be available to download and stream across all mainstream digital platforms from 19th June 2021.
Initially planned for release just as the UK’s 15-month national lockdown lifts, D.R.I.N.K is an apéritif – a little something to whet your appetite for what’s to come this summer when bars, pubs, and performance venues finally re-open. The anthem commemorates the end of an era in more ways than one. Not content with simply celebrating long-lost and newfound freedoms, D.R.I.N.K raises a spectacular toast to the end of Biddy’s solo career as a country-pop artist and the beginning of her foray into country-rock with her band Biddy & The Bullets.
D.R.I.N.K mixes the sounds of a full house with some wailing guitars. An effortless blend of early 2000s pop and contemporary country-rock, the song is refreshing and intoxicating with Biddy’s signature powerful vocals and a rousing singalong chorus. Performed by Biddy’s trusted band, and co-written and produced by multi-instrumentalist Stu Magru, the track is nestled in the sweet spot between rock, pop, and country.
“This song is all about day drinking!” says Biddy. “I wanted to release it on the day we are let loose from lockdown as an upbeat soundtrack for the nation’s celebrations.” Although the release from restriction has been delayed since the single was announced, Biddy remains ever the optimist. “Ironically, I know that – pending another lockdown – D.R.I.N.K might end up being a single to drown your sorrows to instead! But I’m willing to take the risk. I have a good feeling!”
It might be last orders for Biddy as a soloist, but this spirited anthem embodies a summer of fun and promises a night you’ll never forget.
