After wowing the crowds on stage with Carrie Underwood, Welsh songstress Caitlin Mae is releasing her self-written holiday single, A Candle for Christmas. A young artist with a talent for storytelling and c charismatic stage presence, Caitlin was chosen to join Carrie Underwood on stage in 2019 during the UK leg of Underwood’s Cry Pretty tour. She draws on her own life-shaping experiences and combines emotional and truthful lyricism with an edgy, energising sound that can be likened to early Taylor Swift.
A Candle for Christmas shares the heartfelt tale of a young woman who desperately misses her partner, a soldier, who was killed in the line of duty. Caitlin has a rich, powerful voice and a delicate lyrical delivery that packs a punch in this emotional track.
“Through the verses, she reminisces on the memories they had together… My family has connections to military personnel so I really hope that the words I feel do it justice.”
A unique holiday offering in that it lacks some of the cheer and sleigh bells ubiquitous with the season, the single is a fitting tribute to those we’ve lost, particularly after a difficult year.
Caitlin Mae has been featured as a Belles and Gals Amplified Artist and is a rising star in the UK country music scene.
