Welsh-born artist Celine Ellis has made quite the name for herself in the UK’s independent music scene. With her unique and captivating melodies and soulful storytelling, Ellis works out of her home studio and has been performing live for over 20 years. This week, she releases her latest single, Too Late.
Too Late takes me all the way back to my mid-teen years when I discovered Aimee Mann, The Be Good Tanyas and Fleetwood Mac. The song explores one of love’s hardest lessons – the too-late realisation of needing someone after losing them. The chorus is both heart-wrenching and captivating, with a memorable melody. Although foot-stomping and festival-ready, there’s a tenderness to the instrumentation and a maudlin melancholy to its tone. The song’s full-band experience enhances Celine’s signature acoustic sound and offers new layers to this folky, Americana anthem.
