Following the tremendous success of her first three releases, Missouri-born Halle Kearns has announced the release of her much-anticipated and aptly-named debut EP, Finally. Since releasing her debut single Pick Me Up in July, Kearns’ star has seen a meteoric rise. She has featured as artist of the week on both Radio Disney and Country Hits Radio in the UK, as well as having surpassed 271,000 total Spotify streams. The music videos for ‘Pick Me Up’ and ‘Shoes To Fill’ both featured on CMT and The Country Network TV station.
Of the remaining two songs on the EP, Whatever You Do is a sensual, contemporary love song and Before He Could is another tender, piano-led ballad.
Whatever You Do is the story of a fledgeling romance, full of lush harmonies and smooth guitar. Kearns’ vocal delivery is captivating and her lyrics are sharp and smart – like all three of her previous releases, Kearns focuses on words and wordplay to say a lot whilst saying very little.
Before He Could is a heartfelt heartbreaker about fear of commitment. Sonically, its roots are firmly entrenched in classic 1990s country ballads. There are shades of Trisha Yearwood and Shania Twain, and once again, Kearns’ delivery is astounding.
As a collection, Halle Kearns has delivered a winner. She’s a smart lyricist with an ear for melody and the voice of an angel, and she uncovers a new facet to her artistry with each song. It’s not hard to see why her star is rising. If this is a debut, I can’t even imagine what she’ll bring next.
