15th January 2021 sees the release of Lost Myself – the sophomore EP from Bristol-based five-piece Hicktown Breakout. The band pride themselves on their unique sound, mixing their passion for country and Americana with their signature upbeat, rocky edge.
“Inspired by our own personal life stories, this new EP takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride of life’s journey that everyone can relate to.”
The collection opens with Distorted Lullaby – a lightly upbeat rock song and a nice taster of what’s to come.
The lead single Get Your Boots On has already gained over 10,000 streams on Spotify. It’s bold and confident with a 1970s rock twist. It’s a ‘get-on-the-dancefloor’ kind of tune, and it’s a fantastic choice for a lead-off.
Halfway marks the midpoint and despite the uptempo beat, it’s a ballad and provides a refreshing change of pace.
The EP’s title track Lost Myself is another 1970s-inspired anthem. The song tells the story of a guy re-evaluating his life after a major breakup. Both lyrically and musically, the track is upbeat and hopeful, with the narrator expressing gratitude for the ending of a bad relationship and the ability to move forward. It has great pace and unique instrumentation.
Yesterday closes the EP with another radio-ready number.
