Our 19th weekly playlist is SONGS ABOUT RAIN! Quite apt, considering the week we’ve had here in the UK! It’s been lovely and warm – and then so hot and humid that we’ve all been begging for a storm.
I started putting this playlist together months ago after hearing Songs About Rain for the first time, so it’s only fitting that Gary Allan is my first highlight of the week. Funnily enough, as I checked the poll this morning to find the winner, this song was on the radio. It’s such a peaceful song, it feels like a Sunday morning to me. It’s one of those tracks that can always calm me, regardless of what’s going on.
My second highlight is Good Rain or Jesus from the Nashville soundtrack, sung by Charles Esten. Esten is a spectacular performer. I was lucky enough to see him in the Nashville Farewell Tour a couple of years ago and he is so compelling to watch. If you’re looking for a song to get emotionally invested in, this is it.
Finally, my third highlight – but always #1 in my heart – I Love A Rainy Night. I have such fond memories of hearing this song throughout my childhood, and it will always be one of my favourites. It’s one of the few upbeat songs on the playlist, and you could argue for that reason it doesn’t truly fit – but if I’m curating a rainy playlist, Eddie Rabbitt is going to be there.
