weekly playlist #30: spiced lattes & rainy afternoons

As autumn slowly falls away to winter, it’s fitting that we feature a playlist perfect for those autumnal afternoons. This is the perfect companion for a hot latte and a good book. It’s perfect for watching the world go by outside your window. It’s perfect to listen to whilst cuddled up under a blanket, warding off that end-of-year chill. I call this playlist spiced lattes & rainy afternoons and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

My highlights this week could easily include the whole playlist. This is one of my favourites to date.

First up is Edie by UK folk-pop artist Leddra Chapman. I saw Leddra live way back in 2011 and her storytelling blew me away. This track from her debut album has always been one of my favourites.

That Wasn’t Me is up next. Brandi Carlile is one of my favourite artists. She’s a complete package – from her songwriting to her singing to her musicianship, I love everything about each of her albums. This song is no different. It gives me chills every time I hear it, and the melancholy of the lyrics lends itself perfectly to this playlist.

Every Little Thing is my third and final highlight of the week. I still remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song. I had to snap a super quick photo of the radio screen because I just had to make sure I remembered the song and artist. It blew me away then and it still does now. From the rawness of the lyrics, the understated production, the sheer emotion packed into Pearce’s lyrical delivery – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played it, or how long it’s remained on my personal playlist rotation.
