weekly playlist #32: spreading my wings

You left us all tied up in this week’s poll for a playlist! After the tiebreaker, spreading my wings took the title with a comfortable lead. This one is a gut-wrenching collection about finding your own independence and learning to live on your own.

Highlights today include Homeless by our good friend Reya Jayne, Gravity by Alison Krauss and Union Station and One Way Ticket by LeAnn Rimes.

Reya was one of the first artists to reach out with her music back in the very early days of the blog. Homeless is the song that inspired this whole playlist!

Gravity is one of my oldest, truest song loves and there’s never a bad moment for it. It’s a song that can calm me, break me down and lift me up all at once.

One Way Ticket is my final highlight this week.  I’ve loved LeAnn Rimes since the first time I saw the music video for How Do I Live on Top Of The Pops back in the 1990s.  This song has such an exuberance to it – it perfectly encapsulates the joy of freedom, and Rimes’ voice is timeless.
