Weekly Playlist #61: beach days

As if by magic, the moment I sat down to write this post, the sun came out. If you’re in the UK like I am, you’ll know we’ve had an unseasonably damp and chilly spring – and we’re READY for some sunshine. The first week of June has brought some bright days and long-awaited warmth, and I for one couldn’t be happier about it. Needless to say, I’m extra excited to be able to share a beach-ready playlist this week.

There’s a lot of pop-country on this playlist. It’s just a vibe, you know?

My first highlight is Knee Deep. This song makes me think of Zac Brown Band’s later album, Uncaged, which might be my favourite of theirs just for the fantastic summertime beach vibe – can you tell I’m a summer child?! The song features the king of the tropical island himself, Jimmy Buffett, and it has the loveliest message – when you lose yourself you find the key to paradise. Don’t take life too seriously. Grab a cocktail and just relax.

My next highlight is Road Less Travelled by Lauren Alaina. I love the euphoric thrill of this song, the message of self-belief and trust, and the anthemic summer sound behind some of Alaina’s biggest and boldest vocals. The moment I heard this song, I fell in love with it and it never fails to give me a little pep talk whenever I need it most.

My final highlight for the week is Rosé. This is another instant love – it’s just absolutely perfect for summer. It’s my favourite summer drink, Mickey Guyton’s voice is absolutely gorgeous, and the light-hearted dig at other country songs only ever talking about whiskey, tequila and beer always gives me a chuckle. To me, this is a quintessential summer jam, and I love it.
